Regular holidays vs special non-working days
The Philippines has two kinds of holiday. On a regular holiday, employees are paid even if they don't work, and those who do work receive double pay for the first eight hours. On a special non-working day, the "no work, no pay" principle applies unless company policy says otherwise, and work is paid at a premium. The Department of Labor and Employment publishes the exact pay rules each year. EDSA People Power Anniversary (25 February) is a special working day in 2027.
The two Eid holidays are proclaimed separately once the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos confirms the dates; they are expected around 9–10 March and 16–17 May 2027.
Travel tips for 2027
Holy Week (25–28 March) is the biggest domestic travel period: ferries, buses and flights to the provinces fill up, and Manila empties. Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve are also special non-working days, so the end of December is a long festive break.
